Description:
This poster was issued in 1989 to mark 120 years of Estonian general song festivals, linking the jubilee year to the first national song festival held in Tartu in 1869. The Estonian Song Festival tradition is one of the central expressions of national culture and collective identity, and by the late 1980s it had also become closely connected with the wider national awakening that led toward restored independence. As a collectible, the poster represents both a major anniversary of Estonia’s song festival movement and the cultural atmosphere of the Singing Revolution era.
Condition & Important Notes
