This poster promotes Wings of Desire, Wim Wenders’ 1987 West German–French film set in a divided Berlin before the fall of the Wall. The film became one of the landmark European art films of the late 1980s, following two angels who observe the city, while one of them chooses human life after falling in love. Wim Wenders won the Best Director prize at Cannes in 1987, which helped establish the film’s lasting international reputation.
