Anne Veski (b. 1956) isn’t just an Estonian pop diva — she was a superstar across the entire Soviet Union. With her powerful voice, glamorous image, and hits like “Позади крутой поворот”, she became one of the most beloved pop icons of the 1980s Soviet music scene.
Fluent in both Estonian and Russian, Veski broke cultural barriers and sold out shows from Moscow to Almaty. Her music brought sparkle and sophistication to millions during a time of limited Western influence.
Even today, she remains a symbol of timeless Baltic pop and cross-cultural stardom.
