Karström himself was a Swedish painter (1962–2005), born in Linköping, later connected to Trollhättan and Göteborg, and educated via Lunnevads folkhögskola, art schools in Stockholm, Nordiska Konstskolan in Kokkola (Finland) and Valand in Göteborg. He’s commonly described as working in an expressive, intuitive mode linked to abstract expressionism/action painting, with influences often noted as Willem de Kooning and Bengt Lindström.
